How my blog started….

One snowy day I was stuck inside surfing the net and I stumbled across a print on demand website called Zazzle.  I had never really heard of print on demand websites or, if I had, thought they were just for uploading your own photos and I didn’t realise that you could upload your own designs and sell them.  So, very excited, I created my own shops Myhorsegatsby and Le Grand Art on Zazzle and spent days uploading my designs and, as usual got totally carried away with my next big plan, and I thought this was a wonderful way of selling my art and I could soon quit the day job!  (I originally only took the day job to keep me going between horse portrait commissions but unfortunately, the day job took over from my art career somewhere down the line!)

But soon I realised that no-one was looking at my Zazzle shop so I followed advice to start a Pinterest business account to raise awareness of the Zazzle shop.

But soon I realised that no-one was looking at my Pinterest page so I followed advice to start a blog to raise awareness of my Pinterest page.

But soon I realised that no-one was looking at my Le Grand Art blog so I started another blog called Out of the Office.

But soon I realised that no-one was looking at Out of the Office so I followed advice and started an Instagram account.

But now I’ve realised that no-one is looking at my Instagram account and I’ve been advised to start a Facebo – OH FORGET IT – I’ve realised that I really enjoy blogging and so the two pieces of advice that I would give new bloggers are:

Advice for New Bloggers

  • Just start a blog; you will learn as you go and don’t worry if no-one is reading your blog as long as you ENJOY writing it.
  • Comment on other blogs and follow them.  Build up a strong network of connections.

Robert R Fike

  1. So sweet, thank you. Your post made me laugh. It does get a little frustrating when you first start something and no one is around to see your beautiful creation. Love your advice, just blog because you love it and if it makes you happy then that is always good.
