Sad news this morning that Michel Legrand has died at the age of 86.
Michel Legrand was a French composer and jazz pianist. He studied music at the Paris Conservatoire.
Films
He wrote the scores for over 200 films and TV programmes including ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, ‘Yentl’ and ‘Ice Station Zebra’ amongst many others.

Awards
He won his first Oscar for the song ‘The Windmills of Your Mind’. He won three Oscars and five Grammys.
All That Jazz
He collaborated with musicians such as Miles Davis, Hank Jones and John Coltrane and recorded many Jazz albums over the years.

My father was occasionally asked if he was related to Michel Legrand and he always replied, ‘Yes, she’s my daughter’.
